The Steve Lounge was designed by renowned Stadium design group Populous for David Edward. I did the initial product development for the lounge so when a barstool version of the Steve was ordered for Wrigley Field I had the hands on experence create a product that respected the original lounge design inside a tight width constraint while being durable enough for the demanding indoor/outdoor environment of one of the most trafficed stadiums in the world.
I started with a design that was closer to the proportions of the lounge than the eventual final product. The evolution shown here shows how I started shedding width at the wings before having to trim down the seat and back.
Side rails sympathetic to the wings were evaluated but not implemented for durability reasons.
